NEW YORK, Feb 8, 2007 / FW / --- Amy Smilovic has a unique design philosophy. ‘Everything in the [Tibi] line has to pass the casual chick test.’ And for Fall 2007, that is what the American designer is proposing, casual chic that is easy-to-wear that will work with your lifestyle.
Opening with a drop down waist mini in three-quarter sleeves and high standing collar, Smilovic set the tone for a playful fall and winter wherein off-white and black are the two basic color palette with splashes of gold, shades of gray including metallic silver for interest.
Playing with volume and texture, Smilovic created slouchy pants, cashmere sweaters with mutton sleeves, one-button trapeze coat with ruffled sleeves and embroidered skirts with oversized eyelets and scallops.
Proposing multiple variants of the jacket, Smilovic cut them brief with a shawl collar, double breasted with a trapeze shape, a bomber in three-quarter sleeves, or extra long that reaches the thighs.
It’s for the hallway fashionista, the college coed, the new professional just of college. It’s also for girls who are on the go, or just want to have fun. The description of the target market might sound like clichés, but Amy Smilovic’s Tibi is very far from being one.
With the New York catwalks mostly catering to the social set, seeing a collection that is meant for everyday living but does not look commercial is gratifying.
So, Amy Smilovic’s design philosophy turns out to be very captivating after all. With Tibi being sold at 200 specialty stores including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, and Neiman Marcus in the United States alone, casual chic definitely has its fans.
