By: Mari Davis

DALLAS, Aug 16, 2006/ FW/ ---Now on its third season, the Altman Building continues to host edgy young designers under the auspices of People’s Revolution.

As of today, 9 designers are slated to unveil their Spring 2007 collection at the historic New York landmark.

  • À LA DISPOSITION: Friday, Sep 8, 10:00 AM

  • Daniel Kinne and Lynda Cohen, former teachers at the Parson’s School of Design are the design duo behind A La Disposition. With their extensive background on historical costumes, the made retro-modernism look like a breeze. But, truly, adapting from the past and reworking the patterns to make contemporary silhouettes is a feat that very few can do, and A La Disposition is one of those who can!

MARA HOFFMAN: Friday, Sep 8, 6:00 PM

FORM: Friday, Sep 8, 9:00 PM
For Spring/Summer 2007, FORM has taken direction from the most symbolic and awe-inspiring creatures ever to live, the snake. Following in its path, this serpent has allowed FORM to explore the natural environment of our own Americana in its rawest of FORM. From the snakelike hemlines that wrap the body effortlessly to weightless chiffon dresses that emulate spring weeping willow trees, a new fresh silhouette has developed which we call “Novel Romantic.” With an affinity toward nature as well as an exotic longing for what’s to come, our snake has brought us around the terrain of America exploring its beauty and comfort. The significance of the snake raises the sense of consciousness, bringing an elite quality of mysticism to the runway. There is a complexity within our clothing emulated by an approachable tranquility

COSTELLO TAGLIAPIETRA: Sunday, Sep 10, 1:00 PM
Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra are the design duo behind the label Costello Tagliapietra. The label debuted in New York during the Spring 2005 season. Winners of the 2005 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award, Costello Tagliapietra is known for their tailored silhouettes and attention to details.

KAI KÜHNE, MYSELF: Sunday, Sep 10, 8:00 PM
After leaving AS FOUR, Kai Kuhne launched the eponymous label ‘Kai Kuhne, Myself.’ For Spring 2007, expect intricate simplicity and the purity of ancient Egypt’s two-dimensional art concept.

RACHEL COMEY: Monday, Sep 11, 7:00 PM

ARAKS: Tuesday, Sep 12, 12:00 NN
Sheer, translucent natural silk, cotton/cashmere, and gauzy fabrics add to the lightness and airy quality echoed in hues of lemon yellow, hot pink, watery gray, steel blue, white, and cream. Through these light fabrics it is seen that lingerie plays an integral part in the overall look of the ARAKS collection. Be it white petal daisies sprinkled over a sheer silk cotton voile fabric atop a faint gray background, nostalgia and ethereal memories are ARAKS theme.
