Bruce Cancels NYC Shows
New York Fashion Week Spring 2003
By Karin Nelson
NEW YORK, Sep 13, 2002/ --- Fashion industry favorite Bruce has cancelled its spring/summer 2003
presentation.
The show had been scheduled for Saturday, September 21 at 3pm.
However, the venue had yet to be confirmed - a rather significant loose end partially
responsible for the decision to cancel.
"It's just such a crowded, hectic season," said Bruce's publicist, Ana Steiner.
"They just thought it better not to show."
Instead Nicole Noselli and Daphne Gutierrez - the design duo behind the avant-garde label -
will be shooting a look book on Monday to send out to editors, and The News showroom will
hold appointments to view the collection.
Recognized for their ability to craft cleverly constructed, sensual, yet intelligent clothing,
Noselli and Gutierrez have been referred to as "the next establishment" by Vogue and
crowned with the CFDA's Perry Ellis Award for Emerging Talent.
Yet, as, independent designers they have had to assume the onus of all aspects of their
business - from production to accounting.
Time, it seems, has never been on their side.
"Ideally, we'd like to have time to create, design and drape -- there are so many things
that we haven't even touched creatively because of the time and financial limits,"
Noselli told FWD before their last show in February.
For showroom appointments, contact Ana Steiner at The News, 212.925.9700 ext.109.
