PARIS, Feb 28, 2005/ FW/ --- The 77th annual Oscar ceremonies brought out the usual array of stars, history making moments and many just dying for a moment of attention. Fashion of course played an all-important role in the world’s premiere glamour event.
E! Red carpet presenter Star Jones was lovely in a long, off the shoulders gown in gold by Richard Tyler. Her natural hair was pulled back and topped with a curled and stylish hair attachment giving her a Roman goddess look. Her perfect hair was accented by a diamond and pearl hair-dress. She looked stunning.
Queen Latifah, Janet Jackson, Drew Barrymore and Helen Mirren, were among the many stars to opt for long dresses and gowns. Cate Blanchette in a one-shoulder yellow frock by Valentino was the eternal picture of glamour.
Hilary Swank was stunning in a long, black body-hugging gown with tail by French fashion house, Guy Laroche, and reasonable diamond earrings! The gown and Swank’s swanky body made movie history together as she accepted her Oscar for best actress for the film, Million Dollar Baby.
Ashanti, dressed in Gucci and Eve, dressed in Roberto Cavalli, went with a little less in above the knee short dresses.
Many were the male stars who wore black tuxedos such as Taylor Hackford, who wore a black tie and tux. He was nominated in the category of best director for his film, Ray, as did Clint Eastwood who actually skated away with that award for his film Million Dollar Baby.
Standout was Jaime Fox, who won the Best Actor Award for playing the lead role in “Ray,” wearing an Ozwald Boateng creation.
Tim Robbins went for an unshaven look. He looked great in his black Versace tuxedo until the button popped off and was captured on TV. R&B singer Usher was dashing in his black and white Harry Winston tuxedo and black bow tie.
Morgan Freeman was dashing in his black Richard Tyler tuxedo and black shirt. Leonardo DiCaprio also wore a simple black tux, white shirt and long black tie and accentuated by a single accessory: supermodel girlfriend, Gisele Bundchen.
Director Spike Lee also made a statement of his own in a Dolce & Gabanna suit and Jordan athletic shoes. And singer Faith Hill is newly brunette. It looks amazingly authentic. Hum…
The funniest thing said at the Oscars came from the mouth of host Chris Rock:
"The only acting you ever see at the Oscars is when people act like they're not mad they lost," Rock said. He recalled the year when Halle Berry won and fellow nominee "Nicole Kidman was smiling so wide, she should have won an Emmy at the Oscars for her great performance. I was like, if you'd done that in the movie, you'd have won an Oscar, girl."

Best Actor: Jamie Foxx, Ray
Best Actress: Hilary Swank, Million Dollar Baby
Best Supporting Actor: Morgan Freeman, Million Dollar Baby
