Paris Pręt-á-Porter Fall 2005
By Mari Davis

PARIS, Mar 5, 2005/ FW/ --- Springtime is Paris is always beautiful, with the flowers abloom and the gardens become a kaleidoscope of colors. But with a very long winter, the Pręt-a-porter season had been marked with snow flurries and bitter cold.

Thank goodness for the very beautiful collections that are being shown because they raise the temperature several degrees.

Today at the Carrousel du Louvre, Kenzo’s dramatically poetic collection brought us to the sunny lands where Maharajahs reside while Junko Shimada wrapped up in cashmere, wool and fur to keep us warm.

Patrick Robinson, debuting at Paco Rabanne did a 180-degree turn for the historic house, making it more commercially viable than ever.

The last two shows for the day, Barbara Bui and John Galliano brought us to two disparate corners of the worlds, the mountains of Mongolian and glamorous Hollywood, respectively.

So, while the fashion flock keep on hanging to their fur coats and wear their shawls, their hands that might be wearing gloves most of the time keep on writing, or in this case typing, as the latest collection are reviewed and sent to their home offices for publication.

Hopefully, the sun that peeked early this morning will come back tomorrow so that finally everyone can feel that spring time is here.
