PARIS, Dec 31, 2004/ FW/ --- The Chambre Syndicale has announced its men’s calendar for the Fall 2005 / Winter 2006 collections. This season features 44 designers and fashion houses presenting on the official calendar and even promises to top last season’s star-filled calendar.
Spanish fashion star Antonio Miro kicks off the official season, which begins on Friday, January 28th and will run to Monday, January 31st. Miro will be joined later in the week by compatriot Armand Basi.
Debuting on the Paris calendar this season are Issey Miyake, Gilles Rosier, Wendy & Jim, Spastor and Resistance RT. Others returning to the list after successfully debuting on the official calendar in June 2004 will join them. They include De Fursac, David Kurtis, Kim Jones and Henrik Vibskov.
British star and Hollywood royalty favorite, Ozwald Boateng, will be also returning to sign his sophomore collection for Givenchy.
Not to be upstaged are the traditional players on the men calendar. They include Yves Saint Laurent, Raf Simons, Yohji Yamamoto, Xavier Delcour, Hermes, Masatomo, Rykiel, Moritz Rogosky, Pierre-Henri Mathieu, Bernhard Willhelm, Marcel Marongiu, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Paul & Joe, Paul Smith and men’s fashion legend, Francesco Smalto by Franck Bouclier.
Making his return to the calendar after a very noticeable absence from the Paris runways over the past several seasons is French menswear champion, Daniel Faret. Although the “hardest working” man in the fashion business has been busy expanding his empire into China and his creative influence through his collections for La Perla, he has not forgotten the city of lights. In fact, with his ever-evolving masculine sophistication, Faret is expected to once again take Paris by storm with the lines and elegance of his new collection.
However of everyone showing on the official calendar, it goes without saying that one of the most entertaining fashion shows will be that of Gaspard Yurkievich. He never ceases to amaze journalists with his erotic and near pornographic presentations, which keep tongues wagging for weeks.
Readers should be on the lookout for Fashion Windows’ growing full coverage of the men’s fashion week in the form of our reviews and our daily blogs. Through them, the excitement of Paris’ fashion week will be only a click away!
