Paris Menswear Show Fall 2005
By: Contributing Writer
PARIS, Jan 29, 2005/ FW/ --- There are some big differences that distinguish the men’s season from the haute couture season that just closed.
Although many of us remained over from couture, a lot of the journalists present represent male journalism outlets. So it’s always cool to see the ones that I normally don’t see during the haute couture or ladies’ ready-to-wear season.
A second distinguishing factor about the men’s shows is it brings fresh relief from the faces sitting on front row at the couture shows.
I am so glad because after a three-day couture season, I have had enough of seeing botoxed faces and collagen injected lips. It’s enough to make you sick.
I suppose that a third distinguishing factor between the haute couture season and the men’s shows are the dress codes. Only furs, haute jewelry from names like Boucheron, Cartier or Tiffany’s and the most expensive fringes will do.
The men’s shows are cool because we are generally more laid back and have the opportunity to wear jogging suits, runners and jeans. It is a welcomed time for me because after dressing in beautiful shoes and boots during couture, my feet hurt like the dickens!
Mari Davis and Michelle Taylor think that it is so funny when I tell them that. I don’t because it feels as though I have walked a marathon in the most unfitting shoes for the task. Happily for me, I only covered 4 shows today, which gave me the chance to get off my feet for a bit.
