DALLAS, Mar 21, 2005/ FW/ --- Now, it’s time to look at what to expect to be at the store shelves come autumn / winter.
Capes, Long & Trench Coats
From the dramatic black cape of Count Dracula to the pop culture icon caped crusaders that include batman, expect the boy next door to the captain of the debate team to wear them come wintertime. Chic, stylish and modish, capes give men certain flair.
Expect men to sport leather and fur coats also, either as a whole coat or just as a trim. From mink to alpaca to shearling, men’s coats will rival women’s in looks and tailoring.
And they won’t stay black either. There is a color movement going on with Rykiel Homme and Daniel Faret as spearheads.
Cardigans
It’s not your father or grandfather’s cardigan! The staple of a man’s wardrobe is undergoing a revival and now, they come in a kaleidoscope of color and can be cable knit or made of mohair.
Great looks for both baby boomers and echo boomers, so expect to see them at the gold course and / or college campuses.
Hats, Ties & Cravats
As a signal to the return to elegance, hats are once again en vogue. Ties can be thin or wide, short or long, same with the cravats.
The looks are so eclectic that there is really no way one can go wrong, except not to wear them at all.
Color
There are two schools of thoughts here – staying with neutral black, white and gray or go for the whole color wheel. Don’t be afraid to experiment. Mix & match if you feel courageous or stay with black & white if you feel uncertain.
If you’re wondering, there is no “new black” this season. Black is still black. Plaids are also in.
Extreme Sports
Skiing, snowboarding, mountain climbing, name it and chances are there is a designer outfit for you. Include skateboarding and biking, whether mountain or motorbikes, there is a wide array of sportswear available.
That goes for accessories too as in gloves, shoes, and hats. Hence, there is really no reason to just stay at home this winter!
Urban Wear
Hip-hop clothing has never been hotter, but it has also gone a lot of permutations since it entered the mainstream a few years back. There are now different flavors to it from the original XXXXXL to the more tailored, yet still generous proportions. Quilts and duvets have also entered the picture.
