PARIS, Oct 4, 2004/ FW/ --- Jean-Charles de Castelbajac might not be on the calendar of the Spring 2005 pręt-a-porter season, but he is definitely all over the shows with his specially designed Smart Cars.
A favorite among Parisians, the Smart Car is a city car that has the unique capacity of parking vertically in the smallest space possible.
Meant to seat two people comfortably, (the driver and a passenger) plus a luggage compartment that can easily hold a week’s grocery or in terms of suitcases, two regular sized suitcase that can hold about 70 lbs., the Smart Car is a go-anywhere, do anything car.
With Jean-Charles de Castelbajac’s original art painted on the car, the “Urban Car Concept” Pop Unit is definitely dope, as the teens today will describe it.
Used as shuttle between shows, journalists and photographers are driven from show to show during the first day of the season and it will continue during the last day.
And for those of us who always get out late from the shows, we find ourselves in the press bus while we enviously look at the others who got on one of the Smart Cars to go to the next show.
