PARIS, Nov 3, 2004/ FW/ --- Making her debut on during Paris’ Spring 2005 season’s off calendar is Bisrat Negassi. Her sweet bird of youth collection stunned many by its refinement, which drew numerous comparisons to Yves Saint Laurent during his early days of ethnic chic.

A green and white dress with a massive low drop balloon collar called the audience to attention. Her beautiful print skirt with low plunge collar was an extension of its spirit.

On the clothes such as the short ensemble are portraits of some fierce black afro-sporting diva. Could Pauline be her name? The diva’s face is repeated again in a teal dress.

One must be fierce to wear the long white pleated skirt ensemble with lace overlay. It has panels literally slashed away. Those panels are replaced with another lace piece that fills in the skirt and falls into one old dramatic belt. It is quite diabolical in the way that it tricks onlookers into thinking that more skin is about to be revealed only to see that the lace prevents it. This puts one’s imagination into overdrive with excitement!

The teal hot pants and bikini top ensemble will set the discotheques of European capitals aflame. It sizzles so much that my cocktail literally evaporated as the statuesque model passed by wearing it!

“I’m getting more confident”, said the soft spoken Bisrat Negassi to Fashion Windows immediately following her.

“It’s like a baby learning walk. I feel more and more comfortable speaking with the press. They have been so kind to me thus far.”

Sidebar Question: Just who does Bisrat Negassi think she’s fooling? Her sweet bird of youth is not as naďve as it would seem!

Her tailored skirt suit in white chocolate is proof of this assertion fore it is nothing less evil! Her use of structure in it and in her other suits will be the principal allies of a number of sophisticated western European women keeping their husbands and lovers away from the coveting hands of younger women coming from the newly admitted European Union sister countries.

Her dress, also in white chocolate, is a hot bed of devilment disguised in a veil of sophistication. So hot and yet so tastefully done, it caused heart palpitations.

Negassi’ dress in black print with half pleated cap blouse showed the mastery of the marriage between style, vision and technique. Her black pants and top ensemble is too much for mortal words to describe. It is something that must be seen.

When asked how she was feeling after her show, Bisrat responded to Fashion Windows, “I’d like to go to sleep now. I feel so loved. I’m very excited and thankful with all the help I received.”

Negassi’s Sweet Bird of Youth collection was without a doubt one of the greatest highlight from the off calendar and of the entire fashion week.

With big name fashion media present such as Gala Magazine, Tele Al Jazeera, Essence Magazine, Elle and Fashion Windows.Com, Ms. Negassi is going to have to put her fashion making machine into full gear for next season with a bigger show. The buzz on her is out there. People are predicting that she will be among next season’s toast of the town.
