PARIS, Jul 2, 2005/ FW/ --- In a menswear season where elegance is the main trend, Karl Lagerfeld for his eponymous line decided to go with the sportive American look while adding an elegant French flair resulting to a delicious Spring 2006 menswear collection.

Today, at a very intimate setting in a loft at rue Vivienne, models wearing seersucker suits, pants and short in sorbet colors tantalized a select audience with charming sportswear from the quintessential designer for all seasons.

Lagerfeld Gallery, which had been acquired by Tommy Hilfiger, Inc. definitely has the pulse on the American luxury sportswear market.

With sorbet colors as the main palette and the addition of khaki, black and white, the linen suits and trousers, together with the mint green bomber jacket and pants will be definite favorites of the leisure class whether they are up at the Hamptons in New England, or down at Hilton Head in the Deep South.

Karl Lagerfeld also broke new grounds in fashion by giving the American “Main Street” look an international flavor. And although, the silhouettes will look very at home in America’s Midwest, it is also easy to imagine them in Paris, Milan, London, including the Bahamas and the Caribbean come spring / summer 2006.

The synergy between Tommy Hilfiger and Karl Lagerfeld continues with this collection. And although the acquisition of Lagerfeld Gallery by Tommy Hilfiger caught the fashion world by surprise, it is easy to see now that it was a great business decision on both parties.

Tommy Hilfiger brings its vast worldwide distribution on the table, while Karl Lagerfeld brings his formidable design talent to the delight of the fashionista set.
