Yahya Shows Promise On Paris Men’s Runway
By Contributing Writer

Yahya PARIS, Jul 1, 2005/ FW/ --- Saudi designer Yahya made his promising debut to the Paris runways with a Spring/Summer 2006 collection done in inspirations from his homeland and with a few western touches to it.

The designer did clothes that free and liberate the body in their movement. The vast majority of the cuts and styling are purely Saudi.

The collection featured pieces such as shirts in warm sunset colours. A deep blue paisley silk fabric was used in several pieces that come over very well and that were well received by the journalists. One outfit done in this sumptuous fabric was accented in gold threading motifs.

One very interesting piece came in the form of his long traditional shirt. It is cut to the waist in the back revealing a great pair of denim jeans created by Yahya.

The Oriental styling of the collection could make it a bit difficult for the collection to be fully appreciated here in the West.

While that does not take away from the designer’s talent, it would be beneficial to him to further his skills in western styling, and most particularly if he wishes to continue to advance in Trans-Atlantic markets.
