PARIS, Oct 9, 2006/ FW/ --- Chapurin called his show ‘Lolita’ in honor of the adolescent temptress of Valdimir Nabokov's classic novel. The nymphets emerged from the golden lights draped in molten fabrics seducing the audience from the start.
Whatever Lola wants Lola gets and the femme fatale pieces were all that she could want. Strapless dresses with sheer contrasting shirts, pleated shirt dress with golden accents, wrinkled baby doll dresses and silken onesies captured the audience.
Focus was on the details. If Chapurin's Lolita doesn't entice you with her arrival, she will certainly tantalize you with her exit.
Backs of dresses usually ignored became the focus as golden buttons, pleating and zippers adorned the rear. Models flitted down the runway in leather, silks and pre-wrinkled fabrics.
Greens, navy, purple and gold were the primary color palette reminding one of honey and flowers, all the things to draw the bees and the boys. Playing with volume in the use of bateau pleating along the backside and sewn in belts to create volume without sacrificing shape.
Chapurin proved his understanding of the female form. Molten lava- like turtleneck cat suits shown underneath cocktail dresses and mini dresses will take you summer pieces into winter and leather puffed sleeve capelet wings were the must have pieces.
Accessories are the word for this fashion week and he did not disappoint with wonderfully over the top huge bumble bee pins, giving the girls the appearance of being either honeycombs or flowers with large bees drawn to them alighting on their bodies hoping for their sweet nectar.
Look after look he played with this seasons trends; short dresses, pocketed everything, onesies and volume interpreting each item with such a fresh eye and playful manner, making sure that you were never bored, but truly engaged. "You Love It When I'm Bad" played thematically at the end and with a wry smile, I admitted that I did.
