Why Do I Love Paris, Let Me Count The Ways
By: Mari Davis
DALLAS, Aug 10, 2005/ FW/ --- Paris, the City of Lights, the hub of the fashion universe, where creativity is always first and foremost.
For the international press who visit Paris at least 4 times a year to see the latest collections, the answer might lie on the catwalk where fashion innovations and trends are born.
Yet, there is more than fashion in Paris as this journalist had found out in the most delightful way.
Even the tourists and students of history know that the architecture in the city is unique and stands on its own as works of art. The Louvre alone, with its myriads of buildings will take at least two weeks to see every little nook and cranny; as for architecture students, definitely years of study.
Not counting the Louvre, the museums in the city can take months even years to visit. There are always new exhibits; even the little known ones, like the Yves Saint Laurent Museum features new things from the archives of the grand couturier at regular intervals.
Shopping at rue St. Honoré, equivalent of Rodeo Drive is paradise for those who love the latest fashion. Just make sure that you have your gold or platinum card with you, and for those who have “it,” the American Express black cards will really go a long way!
Springtime in Paris with the flowers all abloom, is a sight to behold. Yet, in autumn, when the women dress up, the ladies compete with the fall blossoms for attention.
All these and more, I have come to love about Paris. And although, they continue to delight me in more ways than one, they do not compare to the friends that I have made.
Because amidst all the glitz and glamour of fashion, among the centuries old building and the knowledge that the museums offer, the real gems that I found in Paris are two friends!
It’s a friendship that defies space and time, wherein the Atlantic separating us make the camaraderie more precious.
And although I can fill up a page of why I love Paris, I would like to make it short and sweet and just put “Julien and Jean Paul.”
