The Season of Couture Arrives
PARIS, Jun 16, 2003/ FW/ --- During the warm days of early July, the ladies come to Paris for a biannual
ritual. The fall couture season opens, and good times and bad, the event
unwinds like seasonal clockwork.
The Paris Haute Couture Shows for Fall 2003 fall on uncertain times, in
an economic world that has yet to make any dramatic leap forward after three
years of being in the doldrums.
Sizing up the situation, some have recently questioned the wisdom of
maintaining a tradition that has dwindled to few historic names, plus a
handful of newcomers.
But to take that path would be to take a short sighted view of things, in a
sense to watch imagination and art go up in smoke.
So, for better or worse, the shows will unfold for four sparkling midsummer
days.
