NEW YORK, Sep 18, 2003 --- Born May 4, 1973, into a linage of bankers and accountants,
Winnipeg born Paul Hardy was introduced to the world of fashion by his sister, also a
banker via Vogue magazine.
Hardy, imbued with persistence and passion has now risen to become one of the most promising
young Canadian fashion designers.
Graduating from Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto in 1997, Hardy collected a string
of industry awards for design excellence.
After living and studying in London, Toronto and New York, he began selling high-end fashions
as a personal shopper for Holt Renfrew, the prestigious Canadian retailer - experiece that
aided the launch of an exploding design career.
His debut collection for Spring 2003 in Toronto caused such a sensation that carried over into
his collection at the L.A. Fashion Week for Fall 2003.
Currently carried by Holt Renfrew in Canada, Hardy has been in negotiation for targetting the
U.S. market.
His anticipated New York collection for Spring / Summer 2004 places Hardy as the first
Canadian designer to show at New York Fashion Week.
Deidre Kelly of the Globe and Mail witnessed Hardy's debut and described it as "...te
Second Coming.. you heardthe sound of jaws dropping, as those watching felt that yes, ths
was something magnificent emerging from the wilderness." A star was born.
As one of the freshest examples of raw, yet refined talent to come out of the fashion industry
north of the border, Hardy's meticiously crafted and intellectual clothing is reminiscent
of the Belgian design movement and the L.A. design sensation Rick Owens with Hardy's signature
textured layering.
Minimidimaxi Magazine stated of Paul Hardy, his moody interpretations are in indication that
we can look forward to a meaningfully edgy landscape in the near future, one where the only
obstruction to new silhouettes are the limits of the imagination.
Paul Hardy will continue to push cultural norms and is destined to make an impact in the world
of high fashion.
