DALLAS, Mar 14, 2004/ FW/ --- Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough want their women to look tough, not biker girl tough, but warrior princess tough, meaning they’re beautiful but has a no-nonsense quality in them.
Don’t think Amazon though, think more of the Mongols, or in the Star Trek lore, think Klingons. With sexy corsetry and bustiers that are actually outerwear, and an all fur blouse cinched with a wide silver belt embedded with crystals paired with tight-fitting pants and aggressive footwear reminiscent of the Middle Ages, you have a tough girl with a tough mindset ready to face urban fashion warfare.
The pieces are beautiful, and teamed with a fur stole and long leather gloves like what Tiu worn with her red corset top and red tight-fitting ruche skirt, it’s a red carpet moment if you are going to the premier of Troy.
But though the collection was very focused, and truly well edited, somehow, the toughness was a little much in this season where romance and femininity are the two major trends.
There is nothing wrong about being different. In fact, the design duo should be commended for dancing on a different beat. But too much toughness is a little hard to swallow.
