NEW YORK, Feb 7, 2006 / FW/ --- ‘With this show, I wanted to redefine evening dressing. My goal was to broaden the concept of what and how a woman can dress for even the most special of occasions,’ wrote Reem Acra in her press notes.
True to her words, Reem Acra’s Fall 2006 collection was made up of all evening wear, all of the 34 pieces previewed.
Using intricate beading and embroideries with antique metallic tones as finishing touches against such luxe fabrics in double faced wool, jersey, tulle, silk chiffon, velvet, crepe, and silk jacquard.
With color palettes of classic tones in black, white and grey accentuated by midnight blue, evergreen and scarlet.
Impeccable tailoring is imminent with her twist of the past as infused to a very contemporary design pieces as shown in her dolman sleeve coat in felt with high collar, tuck-pleated taffeta high-waisted skirt worn with file top with antique metallic beading and a beaded empire dress with hand-assembled raw-edged laces over tulle.
The models look seeming like princesses as they walk down the runway in these very elegant, chic, and sophisticated collection to say the least.
Reem Acra certainly knows how to do eveningwear; after all, she started with wedding gowns so why not continue doing what one does best.
