Paris, Oct 11, 2001/ FWD/ --- A romantic yet modern designer at heart, Romeo Gigli sent out
an underwater extravaganza for spring 2002.
The opening pieces, shift dresses of small gold and bronze discs, had a fish scale effect.
The colors then mellowed to the subtle, pretty hues Gigli often favors, which for this season
were blues, greens and burnt orange.
Blouses of sheer chiffon and skirts with jagged hems floated down the runway.
Some which had
shredded and ruffled details floated and flitted like exotic marine life.
His lightweight side-tie pants with stripe and check prints were perfect for a day at the
beach.
Many of the surfaces were wrinkled, layered, ragged or fringed, with one standout
being a white wrinkled cotton trouser suit
It was difficult to imagine the occasion to wear some of the pieces.
A lacquered black and
clear long jacket, for example, looked rigid and peculiar, and one sparkling emerald gown
dazzled a little too much.
