Paris, Jul 11, 2002/ FW/ --- The Scherrer Haute Couture show had a South American flair to it,
as Stéphane Rolland presented a collection fit for a last tango in Paris.
To a soundtrack of Latino brass, he inaugurated a men's collection comprised of 16 different
pieces.
There were full cut, though tapered jackets, pinstripe suits, winter coats with fur flowing
in Bohemian splendor, a pair of bright red leather jewel encrusted tango pants, and even a
sparkly evening suit.
Applause erupted as a model stripped off his trench coat and shirt to display a fancy pair of
black leather laced pants, torso nude.
In short, the entire wardrobe was conceived for the rich boyfriends and husbands of the women
who buy Haute Couture.
Though it is an untested market, the house claims there is a sizeable demand.
Then it was on to the women's side, for a series of cashmere suits in chocolate, black and
navy worn with boleros, before moving on to embroidered patchwork dresses, satin gowns and
a black velvet "trench skirt" in carmine draped silk.
The wedding dress resembled a patchwork quilt with puffed sleeves, and was worn with a gold veil.
The collection was large and varied, though loosely tied together with a dancing theme in mind.
The look was warmly received by the audience, and a round of applause greeted Stéphane Rolland
as he accompanied his 'bride' the full length of the catwalk.
