PARIS, Oct 8, 2004/ FW/ --- Fashion does not discriminate according to Sonia Rykiel. And when she creates fashion, she invents her life to embody the dress within her passions, joy, grief, political outlook, freedom and expectations.
Rykiel's dress is European, North American and Asian; in fact, it can be worn in all the 5 continents. It is also Jewish, Moslem, Catholic, and all world religions combined.
It is basically on the lookout for everything - happiness, despair, art, sex, sociology, and the environment. Sonia's dress moves forward. And the star of the day is "Legend".
Playful, sophisticated and very sexy pieces came out to feast on the catwalk.
With handkerchief dresses and marabou flouncing around as the models take their walk, the audience could not get enough of it.
Soft luxe fabrics of plain jersey (sequined), checkered linen, crepe linen, linen tulle, light linen and flowery chiffon made up the collections.
The added detailing of golden medals, tasseled belts, flowers and brooches to give the pieces just the perfect finishing touch. Not to forget the wide brimmed hats with a star showing or even one with the studded effect was quite a hit.
Known for her big exit, about 30 femmes came out to sit alongside the catwalk all swaying to a remake of "Imagine" after which the curtain opened to reveal other femmes and hommes all dressed in the millennium pirate look, in green, red, black and white that also included some not so grown pirates.
Sonia Rykiel then took her walk graciously all the way to the end of the catwalk giving each photographer the opportunity to take a photo of her.
Bravo Sonia Rykiel for such a wonderful collection and show!
