PARIS, Oct 9, 2005/ FW/ --- Spring / Summer 2006 is a blend of styles and the merging of decades for the colour knit specialist Sonia Rykiel.
Large coloured panels and zebra patterns make up dresses that seem to be something from the pop art 80’s with the silhouette dancing between slim fitting trousers and boxy shaped knits and long coats.
The waist is accentuated at times, while hemlines on easy white summer dresses sit above the knee. Ruffles and tiers add prettiness before Rykiel makes entire dresses of girly lace playing with colour contrasts like black and white and green and black.
Floppy pants leave suggestions of femininity in a comfort wardrobe before chiffon moves fluidly and the fifties are remembered with Marilyn dresses and light weight trenches.
Floral decoration whether on a hat or as a print reminds one that it continues to be the season where women choose to be ladies and embrace everything feminine that grandma would have loved to have seen you dressed in.
As the finale approached and girls walked down the runway in t-shirts celebrating virtues and vices ‘la vie’, ‘le sexe’, le beau’, the Rykiel lady is in love with all that charms and is curiously tempting.
