PARIS, Jul 1, 2006/ FW/ --- The high temperatures that beset Milan followed the fashion flock in Paris, hence at the Rykiel Homme show at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, everyone was fanning themselves. Though it helped to alleviate the heat, it was actually the catwalk show that brought the breezy and refreshing feeling.

Loose-fitting walking shorts and slouchy pants were paired with twin set cardigans and oversized knit coats with pockets. Hoodies that can be gathered at the hem via string and zipped in front for extra protection from the rain featured diagonal pockets and aluminum snaps.

Sneakers and sandals gave it a very summery and sportive feel. But of course, Sonia Rykiel did not forget that the lads still have to attend parties, hence she created three-piece suits in gray, black, light pink and beige.

With the rolled up sleeves, collars that are standing and V-neck pullovers worn over golf tees, there is a certain 1980s feeling to it. Trousers had wide belt bands and a sewn-in belt that is closed by a sewn-in buckle and rivets complete the look.

Iridescent fabrics were also used, in line with the trend that came out of Milan last week. And for die-hard Sonia Rykiel fans, there were graphical tees and shirts in big and thin stripes and big polka dots.

Blouson jackets are collarless and gathered at the waist, while the RH logo, though seen in some pieces like tank tops were used sparingly. It was a restrained exuberance yet the optimism that was seen from the very first exit shone through.
