PARIS, Jan 31, 2006/ FW/ --- Tuesday, the last day of the Paris Menswear Fall 2006 finds fashionistas at the Thierry Mugler Homme presentation at the Avenue de L’Opera wherein Thomas Englehart previewed ‘Exoticon’ a ‘resolutely svelte, rather sexy silhouette, emphasized with different shades of black.’
Lean cuts on trousers and snug fitting jackets, the male form is highlighted; a return to basics for the House of Mugler. The legendary ‘Mugler collar’ also makes a comeback, sheathed in leather or simply suggested by discrete stitching on a shawl collar, finished with an exaggerated button.
Fur coats embellished with patent leather, bomber jackets made of alpaca fur, and a rendition of crocodile skin on suede, it is a luxurious collection wherein the young metro male is the hero.
Size-zip fitted jackets; short-cropped outerwear cinched at the waist with a belt made from the same material give the collection a raffish charm, a seeming insinuation that the Thierry Mugler gent is polished outside but inside, there is a smoldering sexiness waiting to get out.
Double pockets on suits that either came as one-button or two-button, dress pants are cuffed at the hem, while the more casual slacks are slim, but not leg hugging.
The overall atmosphere is relaxed with a touch of formality and sophistication yet laid-back enough for the young generation.
