PARIS, Jul 5, 2006/ FW/ --- In the U.S., there is an upcoming series this fall entitled ‘Who Wants To Be A Superhero?’ attesting the popularity of the cape crusaders among the young and old. Thomas Engelhard, Creative Director of Thierry Mugler went one step farther by creating a collection inspired by the 1950s and 1960s superheroes.
Entitled ‘Comix,’ the collection is an interpretation of how our famed cape crusaders will dress during the day (without their costumers) and today, instead of the 1950s.
Slim trousers that are cut straight all the way to the ankle, one button suits with straight shoulders and bomber jackets that are zipped in front are the costumes donned by real life super heroes among us.
And though these young men try to blend in with their respectable suits and jackets, they cannot totally hide their true nature. A flash of lighting on a shirt, a metal belt sewn in and metallic shirts give away that inside they are men of steel.
Their wardrobe is mostly neutral with black and grays. Still, they can’t help but be part of the color revolution that has been sweeping menswear for the past two seasons. Coral rose shirts and trousers, metallic blue and gold also find their way in their wardrobe.
