Tina Kalivas: Tight Sensual Silhouettes

SYDNEY, May 5, 2005/ FW/ --- The designer’s claim to fame may be the fact that she worked alongside design great Alexander McQueen, but after last nights collection she is bound to make waves all of her own.
Sending out looks in a contrasting colour palette of strictly black and white, except for a single red tinged butterfly and skeleton print, Kalivas turned her attention to daywear, concentrating on a tight sensual silhouette of neat and unconfused lines.
Sharp tailoring struts under animal skeletons of the Australian Museum, as Kalivas elongates the torso via bodices and detailed stitching to accentuate breasts and the upper body.
Harness’s keep pant legs tight and jackets fastened like lacing, perhaps in a similar method to a better known designer who recently bowed down from the international runway last season in Paris, but Kalivas did manage to make the collection her own, finding the right mix between the stylishly new and refreshing with a dark urban undertone resulting in a strong and well put together collection.
