Tomer LOS ANGELES, Mar 30, 2004/ FW/ – Urban cowboys nowadays work out at the gym, look fabulously gorgeous in tailored two button suits and can carry off the boudoir cum Zen dressing gown kimono for weekend meditation getaways and soul searching evenings.

Today at LA fashion week Gendler Tomer presented his menswear collection, and what a pleasant surprise it was. Not only because up until now this has been an all female local celebrity or wanna be celeb event, but rather he took a concept and transformed it into a collection.

Originally from Israel, this twenty something young man designs clothes by a man for men. He mixes simplicity with craftsmanship by accentuating detail and turning asymmetry into a functional design tool.

A dark winter palette turns the male silhouette into anything but boring and repetitious as Tomer mixes sportive elements like hi tech fabrics and playful details on placing mini button pockets on shoulders, ties behind button up shirt grids and outer pockets on pants with multiple belts holes to create his fall winter 2004/05 collection.

Trousers are tailored and mixed with asymmetrically detailed cotton shirts, wool blend overcoats finished with fabric detailing creating simple effective patterns and accessorizes looks with suspenders, ties and charming turtle neck sweaters.

Ironed haired make-up masked men made Tomer’s designs seem easily wearable on any occasion, from the retro futuristic metropolis to cruising down a dusty highway somewhere in the Mexican jungle.

Tomer successfully turns form into functionality making the marketable aspect of thread and cotton into a reality as men who consider themselves stylish or even vaguely chic are bound to start paying attention to this designer who makes it possible to look and feel like you are constantly walking on a catwalk, cool and sassy, and almost definitely in vogue always.
