NEW YORK, Feb 4, 2006/ FW/ --- With menswear designers showing during the first two days of the New York season, Tomer threw his hat in the ring yesterday, previewing his Fall 2006 collection that has grown more sartorial and focused compared to his previous efforts.

Cool and comfy with a generous dash of elegance, Tomer opted for relaxed silhouettes where a man can go from casual to formal while keeping his masculinity intact.

The basic white shirt was embellished with a triangular plaid on the collar. Worn as a tuxedo shirt along with a bow tie, this additional detail gave it piazza without being overt. Plaid was also seen in the plackets, adding texture to basic black.

Still, the true innovations were not easily seen during the 15-minute runway presentation. The single breasted 7-button coat with two stripes on the collar is weatherproof. Made of high-tech fabric, it keeps the wearer warm but also lightweight enough to drape perfectly while keeping its structure.

Showing his Austin roots on the runway, Tomer sent models on the catwalk holding a Gibson guitar. For music aficionados, Austin has always been a center for underground music where musicians converge to share their music.

And Tomer’s big surprise, he has been commissioned by Gibson to design a guitar, the first time a fashion designer had been given the honor to create a signature piece of musical equipment!

Of course, Tomer’s biggest surprise is the announcement of his engagement to womenswear designer Cat Swanson. Both are from Austin, and met during their college years at the University of Texas.

That said, back to fashion!

With rumors going around that 7th on Sixth plans to bring back New York Men’s Week, count Tomer in as one of the designers who will show if menswear makes a comeback in the Big Apple.

He might be the new kid on the block, but his design talent and mastery of tailoring techniques can compare with the big guys.
