Venexiana NEW YORK, Feb 12, 2006 / FW/ --- Designers seemed to be more lineate with fur usage this season. The striking of Anna Wintour in Paris by animal rights activists does not alarm any of the Americans; hence Saga furs supported many designers in the usage of their elaborate fur pieces. Saga is a Finnish company noted for their innovation in fur design. Venexiana pushed the envelope in their use of furs and leathers this season.

Kati Stern's style really shined within this hefty presentation. As the show began with an aqua embroidered shearling coat, the vast forest of furry animals never stop running down the sfilate. Venexiana’s creativity with their combination of fur and leather was remarkable.

Pink Mongolian jackets mixed with fuchsia and apple chiffon dresses were a plethora of depth just within a small portion of the beginning of the collection. Fox stoles and fox tale muffs were styled with teal and brown chiffon dresses. The contrast of fabrics and textiles were fitting. Distressed pieces in leather gave a rugged edge to an over-done collection.

As more flesh and animals made their way alongside knitted tops and wrap dresses, the collection turned to evening. The prints were very Italian inspired in honey and brick print chiffons as well as iridescent cocoa velvets.

Sequins and satin gowns were overlaid with yards of tulle and ruffle fronts. The show climaxed when a red fox muff arrived on the stage. This muff overpowered the chocolate tweed jacket and leather pant it was teamed with. The muff is such a key item that should be brought back to modern dressing.

As the much-anticipated full fur purple gown arrived, it became obvious that Stern was pulling back inspiration from the days of when she designed costumes for Carnevale in Venice. This Hungarian princess is still full of spunk and energy as she took her bow with glee.
