NEW YORK, Sep 12, 2005 / FW/ – Katie Stern’s reputation of a hard rock designer is not to be disputed again for her Venexiana Spring 2006 collection as she sends on the runway big bike female riders in Deluxe denim or turquoise leather.
Her colors this season are very frank, pushed to the extremes: glittering white, fluorescent turquoise, bright orange, lipstick red are mixed to touches of shocking pink, citron yellow and absinth green.
New also this season is her use of Caribbean madras on organza, giving a sunny island background to this very shiny collection.
Katie Stern’s shapes are still in the same spirit: bustier dresses, hand-knitted tops, corsets, and very elaborate trousers, sometimes accessorized by exaggerated gloves.
The bride who closed the show was an extremely theatrical representation of a white dress with a huge train in the shape of a fluffy cloud. Very dramatic and eye-catching, it will be very hard to wear though.
The full evening dresses that before this climax were on the same line: humorous but a little bit on the extreme side. Not for your everyday wardrobe, but great for costume parties and of course, perfect for Halloween gatherings.
There were some really sophisticated wearable pieces that show promise and might give an idea of the secret behind Katie Stern’s eternal youth and love for punk rock.
