NEW YORK, Sep 9, 2006/ FW/ --- Once again the Academy of Art University (AAU) presented New York Fashion Week with the top 10 of their graduating class whose roots come from various part of the globe with various ideas, inspiration and style.
It’s always refreshing to see the work of new designers showcased at Bryant Park to give us a peek of what the fashion industry can expect to get in the future and who will actually make it on their own.
Young and eager minds waiting to get their feet wet in fashion are the best, for this is a no joke industry as they dive right in instead of simply testing the waters during fashion week along side the likes of Carolina Herrera, Oscar dela Renta and Ralph Lauren for instance.
For the Spring 2007 New York season, AAU's MFA Graduates - Pablo Fernandez, Masamichi Matsushita, Susan Fort, Laurie Brown, Jun Young Ryu, Avani Pratap Bhansali, Shanti Rose Markstrom, Mari Matsumoto, Kyung Min Kim, Masamichi Matsushita and Christine Welcher - are the featured students.
As family and friends sit eagerly waiting to see their designer come out with their collection, press and media patiently sit there wondering who will become the next big name.
With both women’s and means wear shown, the designers covered all grounds from day to eveningwear. And of course there are no expectations on season since they showcased light and airy spring/summer pieces to a much warmer and heavier fall/winter collection.
With all the buzz being heard during and after the show, as with any other show, some are heard saying that someone seem to fit right in like they’ve been doing this for years and how some of the pieces maybe just a little too busy.
At the end of the day, we all have to just sit back, relax and wait to see what these young designers will do during the coming seasons and will make a regular come back.
