Always interested in the history of clothing and having studied art philosophy and methods since the age of four, designing appeared the likely path for someone of my interest and understandings to take.

Surrounding myself with pens, pencils and paint was the first step in trying to create a colourful world where even people who don't understand fashion can come to appreciate the fluid touch of a soft silk and relish in the comfort of a beautifully made piece of clothing.

Having learnt how to sew at the age of six, I have spent fifteen years trying to perfect my craft.

Enrolling in East Sydney's Fashion design Advanced Diploma course at the age of 18, I was subjected to a gruelling three years of specialty training where the craft of pattern making became a skill I realised was vital in mastering a superior finish to worth design.

During that time I was fortunate enough to work at the Fashion Design House, Atelier Narakas in Paris June - July 2001 under the direction of Michael Gregory and Alexandre Narakas.

Several awards followed; The Dylon Dye Fashion Award 2001, Finlist 'Cutting - in' Design Awards 2001 and The Aprilia Scooters Fashion Awards second, for outstanding final year collection.

Combining art and textiles to create something unique hs always been my aim when it comes to developing a concept.

Individual handmade garments have been crafted under the label Alexandra Nea for the pst six years.

Designed to perfect taste and fit for the personal neds of the clientele. Alexandra Nea specialises in cocktail/evening wear as well as up market day wear with a twist.

Hand painted finishes, placement prints and attention to fine seam work make every Nea garment a piece meant to be enjoyed and cherished by its owner.

Fabrics are sourced with a great amount of crae relating to the initial image that is to be created and will often come in the form of vintage kimonos and obe's, cut up and used as feature sections to form an eye catching break. Base fabrics will mainly be natural fibres to achieve the desired higher quality finish.

Alexandra Nea ready-to-wear was established Jan 2003 after high demands were recorded on certain looks.

A small collection of draped tops, dresses and hand painted skirts were created. Still based at the higher end of the market with designs being made in individual fabrics mixed with base fabrics Alexandra Nea has received an extremely warm welcome through its debut store; Pratten situated in Paddington.
