Emporio Armani LONDON, Sep 22, 2006/ FW/ --- There was more to the Emporio Armani Spring/Summer 2007 collection than the clothes. Armani used his platform for charitable purposes in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis. Megastars were invited to speak to the audience, including Alicia Keys, Bono and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Both the women’s and menswear maintained the Armani cool in black, red and white. There wasn’t much missing from this collection. Smart, tailored suits for both sexes. Trendy tees aimed at the youthful demographic of the diffusion line. Flirty shorts and flouncing tops with ruffles. Geometric prints on collars and hemlines.

Somehow, Armani managed to keep each look above the knee for women, which is no small feat for such a huge collection. The diagonal striped, sequined trapeze dress in black and white wasn’t particularly new, but was still striking in its chic simplicity.

Beachwear raced out in droves in stripes galore. The metallic athletic shorts with suspenders for men are a certain hit for next season.

It is refreshing to see that the fight to end these debilitating diseases has not been forgotten by some of the most powerful voices in fashion and the mainstream media, especially the sizzling Beyoncé who wowed the audience with her riveting performance in the name of charitable fashion.
