PARIS, Jul 6, 2006/ FW/ --- Launched during the Spring 2005 season, Giorgio Armani’s foray into haute couture was hailed as ‘breathing a new life’ to the lofty world high fashion.

With all the rumors and predictions that haute couture is ‘dying or already dead or finished,’ it was badly in need of a new stellar name on the roster. Giorgio Armani’s entrance certainly provided that.

With his entrance as a corresponding member, Armani joined Valentino, on the list of Italian houses showing during the haute couture season.

Many were wondering why Giorgio Armani started haute couture during the late stage of his career. There were more supporters than detractors, and the final answer to the question was another question - ‘why not?’

Now showing his fourth collection for haute couture, his artistry and superb tailoring are definitely positive additions to the season.
