Blugirl by Anna Molinari MILAN, Feb 19, 2007/ FW/ --- You could feel the energy rising as the first model walked down the runway in a random clash of clothing your crazy aunt might wear. Red opaque tights with matching gloves, plaids over stripes toped off by a felt hat and leopard print heels, the crazy thing, it worked!

Blugirl went wild this season for freedom of colors and styles. They collection was a fun yet well thought out play on the theme of freedom.

The runway was a reflective surface with lily pads lining the sides giving the illusion to a Lilly pond. Looking at the stage you almost forgot you were in a temporary tent.

At the end of the runway stood a beautiful greenhouse with huge glass planes and plants overflowing out of its door. From this door, the models exited swaying to the rhythm of the upbeat music.

The show started of wild and fun blending bright colors with bold prints and accessories. For a while, you thought it was going to tone down and be one of those shows that ends in a completely different place than where it started.

Outfits began to get simpler mixing blacks with one or two contrast colors. The next outfits made you fall for it even more, as a trio of black dresses embroidered at the necks with swarovski's were totally expectable evening pieces.

But then came the blasts of lyrics from Rage Against the Machine’s song, Tire me. “I want to be Jackie Onassis. I wanna wear a pair of dark sunglasses.” And the color and spunk to the show came back. Freedom!

To finish it all off Strapless party dresses with big skirts came out in an array of bright brilliant colors. They must have been playing with us the whole time to make us feel the constrained and then let us free, the show was about freedom and they forced us to realize it.

The show had some wonderful accessories all playing large on the idea of no constraints. Fabrics and styles for purses ranged from quilted velvet mini-clutches to patent leather maxi-bags. Felt hat’s with large satin roses and multi colored pompoms played a large part in the general playful feel of the show. Thick black cat eyeglasses, patent leather belts with big bows, rhinestone buckles and necklaces…the list goes on.

Though the show was an interesting blend of inspirations, the final product was strong. Blugirl took a bold move and the step away from the typical romanticism did them good. The collection made people smile and in the end isn’t happiness what were all aiming for!
