SYDNEY, May 8, 2005 / FW/ --- Like in New York, the menswear show plays second fiddle to the more popular womenswear shows in Sydney. But the menswear designers cannot be denied, so five of them showed as a group last Thursday.
BRENT WILSON:
From formal to Hawaiian, from suits to swimsuits, Brent Wilson took the audience from the hallowed halls of the British Parliament to the beaches of Waikiki then went to back to Sydney!
And in a seemingly political statement, he sent a “bride,” who is actually a male model wearing white shorts, white shirt, a white jacket and a veil!
Is the gay marriage issue as big in Australia as it is in the U.S. and France? Is there any Australian political analyst out there who knows the answer to this?
HOWARD SHOWERS:
Launched last year as an expansion to the brand, Howard Showers men’s collection by Brett Murray is about lifestyle choices from career to weekend.
Navy-inspired cracker jack pants in black or white, low-waist shorts, slim-fitting jackets give the collection a metropolitan feel, but not too avant-garde so that it can also fit in an office setting.
There are enough prints and stripes to make it attractive for men who lean towards casual clothing, and there are also formal suits offering for the more conservative.
