SYDNEY, May 3, 2005/ FW/ --- Arabella Ramsay, Belinda Fairbanks and Shakuhachi for the Ready-To-Wear Group 2 show are very similar, yet also distinctive in their styles.
Victoria, Australia-based ARABELLA RAMSAY started her label in 2001, but you will not know that from the Spring 2006 collection she presented wherein she proposed Euro-Australian looks that is very young and dynamic.
A little bit of vintage goes a long way when mixed with contemporary silhouettes and that was the reason why Ramsay stood out during the show. Her models wearing lace berets automatically gave the collection a French flair.
And with the handkerchief skirts, ruffled mini dresses, Capri length pants that sometimes turned into wide cut walking shorts, Ramsay captured her audience from the word ‘go.’
Also based in Victoria, BELINDA FAIRBANKS took a more romantic approach with her flowing gowns and dresses that are reminiscent of the 1970s.
Deep V-necklines, spaghetti straps and halter-tops emphasized the shoulders and playing with empire waists that sometimes come as ruching in between the bustline gave it an updated look.
Jessie White’s SHAKUHACHI also has a romantic element, but it was more of the 1970s hippie era mixed with the outback due to the use of riding and cowboy boots.
Very young and not overtly sexy, this collection will be taken very well by the individualist dressing attitude of the Echo boomer generation.
