Ericaamerica Since debuting at last year's Australian Fashion Week ericaamerica has already established itself as a leading name in innovative Australian menswear.

With futuristic designs, an equal measure of the classic, inventive new cuts and a masculine sense of style, the label has moved from strength to strength, in the year following their successful international fashion debut.

2002 saw them increasing their stockist base 3 times over as word spread around the country and overseas about the exciting new developments in menswear coming out of the ericaamerica studios.

The label's performances at both the Perth and Melbourne StyleAid fundraisers garnered them even more accolades with both the press and the public. This along with parades for the Adelaide Festival and the Studio magazines Mode launch helped push the label’s reputation ever forward.

Summer 03/04 sees the label exploring the theme of Gangster. The clothes look at notions of gang membership, tribalism and collective identity. Through the use of tongue in cheek gang symbols, influences from gang and tribal tattooing, and a nod to the classic images of the sharp mafia “dress to impress” attire, the collection has a strong masculine identity infused with a healthy dose of laddish fun. An inventive new hats and accessories range compliments the garments, giving men a whole new world of options in accessorising their fashion statements, and helps make Summer 03/04 the most wearable ericaamerica collection yet.

Developing their reputation as a new force in menswear, Fashion Week 02 introduced ericaamerica to the international fashion scene while firmly establishing the labels position in Australia’s ever exciting fashion industry. Fashion Week 03 looks set to solidify ericaamerica’s position as one of the hottest of the new breed of young, up and coming Australian labels, and with the showing of Gangster ericaamerica should prove to be a real tour de force of Australian Fashion. //Courtesy of MAFW
