Francesco Smalto Continues To Evolve For Spring / Summer 2006
By Contributing Writer
PARIS, Jul 5, 2006/ FW/ --- Frank Boclet signed for Francesco Smalto a sophisticated and all eye-catching collection for Spring/Summer 2006. When the show was over, everyone in attendance, including supermodel and television host Tyra Banks, seemed to have been more than content.
Boclet, the house’s artistic director, continued his evolution of the Smalto brand not leaving anything to detail or to chance. The pants and trousers are sublime and the blazers cut to a millimetre of perfection.
Of the colour schemes, Boclet did wonders with his prints and most particularly with his brown and orange printed fabric. The latter first appeared in the form of a hot and sexily cut pair of tight slacks that hug and caress each curb of the male backside. It next appeared as the lining of a jacket; and then it was used to make another jacket.
Of the nicest pieces in the collection, the designer created vests so sophisticated that they make suit jackets a thing of the past.
Yet, these vests are so accessible that older and younger clients of the house are certain to look great wearing the vests with even a white shirt and a pair of jeans.
The shirts in the collection can now be mixed with any other label without looking too Smalto, yet they maintain the identity and spirit of the house. And Boclet’s sports glove in leather and cotton/leather gave the silhouettes a more distinguished appeal.
When the show finished, supermodel Tyra Banks summed the show up in one word, “Fantastic!”
