Francesco Smalto: Smalto is Boss Again

Francesco Smalto PARIS, Jul 5, 2004/ FW/ --- As designer Franck Boclet came out for his bow at the end of the Francsco Smalto fashion show, it was like witnessing the satisfaction of Louis XVIII upon his arrival in Calais for the restoration of the Bourbon dynasty. The thunderous applause for Boclet and the Smalto collection was probably comparable to that Boclet and Smalto received by the French king back on April 24, 1814.

While there has been no violent revolution at Francesco Smalto, Franck Boclet has evolved the cuts of the house’s suits.

They are more elegant and sophisticated than ever before. Regardless of one’s physical build, the suits make a man look impeccable, giving him great posture, presence, sex appeal and power over those found in his presence.

Of the hundreds of men’s shows that I have attended, rarely have I seen such finished products and pure lines that could rival with the best haute couture shows.

The collection featured blazers in raised velour of an irreproachable design. The sleek suede pants and motor cycle jacket done in knit is too much for words to do it justice.

The collection also made strong use of pencil thin pants. These pants, like the other in the collection, are cut to embellish the buttocks. This is really important to note as men in general are looking more than ever before to place emphasis on their natural assets. Here, they won’t be disappointed!

Not many can pretend to do pinstripes on suits without being burdened with the gangster looking finished product. The Smalto suit was nothing but masculine sophistication for his pinstriped suits thanks to their sexier cut.

Although nude swimwear drew the most applause, it was the 100% white ensemble that stole the show for me (and most likely my next pay check).

The pants were straight cut with a 4 inch zipper, which literally blesses its wearer with what nature did not see fit to grant him. The long sleeve, button down shirt has longer cuffs than one would usually expect. A beautiful, sleek white belt and white glazed shoes finished of this most spectacular and clean look!

With this said and done, no one can deny that Franck Boclet’s collection for Francesco Smalto makes him the undisputed boss.
