MILAN, Jun 29, 2005/ FW/ --- Giuliano Fujiwara is going for a new modern look under the new creative direction of Masataka Matsumura. This is Matsumura's first collection for Fujiwara and he is intended to create a new image for the label without changing the heart and root of this companies Italian-style tailoring.
This collection is all about details and the play on extremes. With the collections minimalistic colours of black, white, tope and light grey, it gave the aura of light and airy. Matsumura's young style and innovation is following along the same path as early
Yamamoto and Helmut Lang.
Classics are essential for this collection with black leather blazers and suede layering jackets. Slim cut trousers and deep cut v-necks are great looks.
The entire collection had a modern touch but with great juxtaposition. Because many of the shirts were basic in the front, but had graphic designs of blurred nudity and creative prints.
The inside of the jackets also carried similar graphics on prima cotton linings. The irony-ism and creativity behind having basic cuts and plain fronts, but it was full of impact and aggressive edge.
A mentionable red blazer styled with walking shorts looked great. As well as the biker inspired jackets with slim collars. Cargo trousers were flat pocketed and sleek teamed with layered top looks.
Green and white stripped v-necks and tees will be most fitting with the dark indigo denim jeans. These dark denim jeans are particularly vintage style with stitching manufactured directly from Okayama, Japan.
This collection just gave a preview of the high standards and quality of Japanese style that the 24-year-old Matsumura will bring to rejuvenate a great label.
