PARIS, Jul 2, 2006/ FW/ --- Presenting his second catwalk show for Gaultier2, Jean Paul Gaultier proposed sportive dressing with different washes of denim intermixed with luxury fabrics such as python skin and silk organza.
From indigo to acid wash, to different shades of coral adorned with original prints, jeans are the main fare of Gaultier2 fans for Spring 2007.
The classic jean jacket with its studs and buttons were presented in its multiple variants by using different textures, prints and fabrics. From the traditional denim to acid wash silk, then python skin, the jean jacket was elevated from the lowly working class to high street fashion.
The trench coat did not escape either! As Jean Paul Gaultier played with texture, the trench coat became opulent in silk organza and high tech with parachute fabric.
And where will we be without the corset? After all, this is a Jean Paul Gaultier show and one of his signature creations is the corset. Well, it is there reincarnated as a suspender/cummerbund.
Innovations abound and the finale was dramatic with all male and female models wearing shirts – from tank tops to shirts to wraps, all of them sporting an original print.
Now, only in its second season, the Gaultier2 has gathered momentum as Jean Paul Gaultier continues to redefine the boy-girl dressing.
And though this may sound a cliché, borrowing from your boyfriend, husband or brother’s wardrobe has never been so much easier. In fact, a girl who really likes the outfit can actually go to a Jean Paul Gaultier boutique and pick one up for herself.
