DALLAS, Sep 1, 2006/ FW/ --- Instead of the hustle and bustle of Bryant Park, New York-based designer James Coviello is opting for the more intimate atmosphere of a soiree to unveil his Spring 2007 collection.

Cultivating an ambiance that’s more afternoon tea party with friends than the traditional fashion show, ABC Carpet & Home’s Madeline Weinrib Atelier (on the 6th floor) will play host to James Coviello’s catwalk presentation on September 9th at 4:00 PM.

Like in the famed salons of the Parisian fashion houses during the heydays of haute couture, guests will be served Moet et Chandon champagne upon arrival, then treated to tea and decadent chocolate from Michel Cluizel Paris.

And, that’s not all. James Coviello has also arranged surprises for his guests. While unveiling his Spring 2007 collection, there will be ‘vignettes’ during the catwalk presentation that will feature special guests such as Anna Sui.

It will be a show within a show, which will break new grounds in fashion shows.

James Coviello, who began his career in fashion in 1987, as a jewelry designer for Erickson Beamon met Anna Sui in 1991 during a photo shoot that she was styling.

Coviello, whose hat collections were already being sold at Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus during that time created a special hat for Anna Sui.

That collaboration led to an alliance that exists up to today. It was Anna Sui who brought Coviello’s knitwear on the runway and creating the ‘James Coviello for Anna Sui’ label.

With already established clientele for his accessories and knitwear, James Coviello decided to establish his eponymous ready-to-wear line in 2000, with his solo debut on the New York catwalk during the Spring 2001 season.

He took inspiration from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, and translated them into retro-modern silhouettes with romantic touches such as flowers and bows.

Like his hat collection, that was a commercial success since the first season, Fred Segal and Barneys immediately picked up Coviello’s ready-to-wear label from the beginning. Today, the label sells in over 40 specialty boutiques and department stores throughout the world.

The label is also sold online at www.saks.com and on the Spiegel Big Book Catalog, which includes knitwear and home furnishings.
