Jefen Fall 2007: The Pink Panther As A Young Girl
Paris Pręt-á-Porter (Paris Fashion Week) Fall 2007
By Mari Davis

Jefen PARIS, Feb 25, 2007/ FW/ --- Now in his second season in Paris, Frankie Xie designing for Jefen demonstrated a more assured hand for Fall 2007 than his debut collection. It is always hard the first time, and it gets better with experience.

Following the ‘power woman’ trend that was seen in Milan, Frankie Xie took the Pink Panther as his muse, sending different versions of plaid cape coats on the runway, complete with the iconic Pink Panther hat.

One featured a sewn-in belt that acts a drawing, creating a little sheer at the waist, while another was tailored to become double breasted and closed with big buttons. These cape coats alone will be a rage among Jefen fans.

Frankie Xie who launched the label Jefen in 2000, today has 20 freestanding stores in China, attesting his popularity in his home country. With a very westernized looks and unveiling his collection in Paris, it is safe to assume that the Zhejiang Sci-Tech University graduate wants to expand his horizon.

Speaking of expanding the horizon, the collection was not about outerwear alone. Frankie Xie also sent out multiple variants of mini dresses. From the bustier mini to the shift dress, some features cowl necklines while others came as turtlenecks.

Even the sweater dress, very popular this season from New York to Milan, was visualized by Frankie Xie as a mini skirt.

Giving a nod to the ‘glitter’ enchantment of designers this season, Frankie Xie created short sleeve minis (of course!) in shiny fabrics and sometimes they came fully sequined.

As critics always say, ‘there is always room for improvement’ and Frankie Xie is definitely on the right track.
