MILAN, Feb 19, 2007/ FW/ --- Take a designer who is anything but simple and give him the inspiration of exaggerated simplicity and you’ll get Just Cavalli’s Fall Winter collection.
The result was interesting new shapes and forms created from basic classic ideas. The colors basically stuck with the theme exaggerating the simplicity of black and gray’s. No fear though, animal prints and reptilian sheens that are a Cavalli signature were not to be left out.
The mood was a dark underground in an urban setting. The young ladies were sensual and strong and a bit more grown up from the usual Just Cavalli girl.
There were still the thrills and frills of youth in large puff skirts and shoulders but the muted tones added sophistication to the youthful designs.
Bolero style knits, that were larger then large, bunched up on the arms creating huge volumes out of the folds. Cables on the knits were exaggerated in size and on the bulky sweaters.
Pocket flaps were magnified as buttons grew larger and skirts shorter. The base of the collection was fairly simple styles that became intricate through the concentration on enlarging the details.
Taking a simple fur trimmed leather jacket, Cavalli exaggerated the fur to the point that the trim became somewhat of a panel. Some skirts were so poufy they looked almost like balls, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t sexy classic Cavalli pieces.
A toned down cheetah print dress with a low v-neck and fabric that draped on the body was a comfortable crowd pleaser.
The Just Cavalli girl is young, sexy and luxurious yet also daring in her clothing choices.
The collection was inspired by emo and gothic details but took into mind the loyal customer, with his fancy details. Fur lined the heels and large brooches covered in rhinestones, adorned jackets. Shiny materials, furs, and patent leathers were all blended together for the city smart look.
The Just Cavalli girl might miss some of her color but hopefully she’ll be happy with the shimmering and shines that took over.
