DALLAS, Apr 17, 2007 / FW --- Founded in 2004 by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, Marchesa took the fashion world by storm with their ‘living work of art’ philosophy.
Inspired by the life of Marchesa Luisa Casati, a Belle Époque aristocrat renowned for her flamboyant tastes, the Marchesa label has the lavishness and bigger than life attitude of the late Marchesa Casati.
For Fall 2007, Chapman and Craig stayed true to their design philosophy. In a collection inspired by the Duchess of Windsor and Marlene Dietrich, Chapman and Keren delved into the ‘Victor/Victoria’ concept.
Exploring the dichotomy of feminine and masculine allure, the Marchesa designers proposed tuxedo pantsuit sets and ultra femme gowns and cocktail dresses done in antique metallic colors and jewel tones that included dark orchid and cerise.
Delicate fabrics of silk chiffon, tulle, velvet and wool crepe were paired with feathers and intricate hand-embroidery while lavish dresses reveal panthers and serpents. The collection is signature Marchesa, a profusion of couture details in eveningwear that is very feminine with a touch of fantasy.
Already a favorite of the Hollywood crowd, Marchesa is also for every woman who wants to feel pampered. Marchesa is sold at Neiman Marcus, Harrods and Selfridges in London, Holt Renfrew in Canada and Joyce in Hong Kong.
