MILAN, Sep 23, 2007/ FW/ --- When day was beginning to turn to night, Massimo Rebecchi had an oasis of light for the Milan fashion crowd. Set in a white-walled warehouse with bright lights, the modern environment started the mood for the fashion show to come. The concept of the show was “Button up Minimal” while the muse was, sometimes model sometimes actress, Chloe Sevigny.
With modern vibes and rhythms, Massimo Rebecchi, transformed his inspirations into smart lady-like designs calling them a new concept for minimalism. Colors aided this concept in their lightness and simplicity with white, beige and silver counterbalanced by brown and lead. Like bursts of flowers from a bouquet in purple, emerald and lemon accessories worked as color accents to the otherwise pallid palette.
While the look was very classy and portrayed the well-to-do girl there was definitely a equilibrium between past and present. Rebecchi took the popular oval shape and structuralized it to the point where you couldn’t help but see a tid-bit of architectural design. Shaped were given form and freedom at the same time, materialized in linen, cotton and silks. From matte to armour texture played a larger part then color. Color worked as a to accentuate the designs and fabrics and minimalise the look.
From Chloe Sevigny came the emotional inspirations of independence, disenchantment and provocation. Considering her as an eclectic American, Chloe encases the proper lady and alternative woman at the same time. Fringes of crocheted pompoms worked as alternative embellishments on otherwise traditional pieces. High-waist pants in shiny silks looked modern and classic paired with a thin green belt at the hips.
The collection overall was very wearable yet did not lack in design innovation for this fact. Taking a movie star who dresses as Chloe Sevigny does, all body-types can fit into the classic fits she so fashionably pulls off. Massimo Rebecchi’s Spring Summer 2008 collection new minimal is just fresh enough to be new and comfortable at the same time.
