LOS ANGELES, Oct 15, 2007 / FW / --- Sunday night, Oct 14th, at Smashbox Studios’ The Lightbox, Nicky Hilton, collaborating with Rosemarie Rodrigues, a French designer and former Creative Director of Paco Rabanne, unveiled the first ever Chick by Nicky Hilton collection.
It was non-stop paparazzi mayhem with a glittering front row that included Sara Ramirez who plays the role of Callie Torres in Grey’s Anatomy and actress Jaime Pressly.
Also in attendance are Mr. & Mrs. Rick Hilton, who in an interview with reporters said that they are “very proud of their daughter Nicky.” Pointedly missing is Paris, Nicky’s more famous sister, which according to the scuttlebutt at the tents “decided not to show up so that the limelight will all be on Nicky.”
After almost an hour waiting for the photographers to clear the runway, Nicky Hilton sent 28 ensembles on the runway based on a red, white and blue color palette.
From the white trench coat of blended wool accented in black finishings, to several season-trendy print summer dresses in cotton, to the infamous Cracker Jack pants in a variety of colors and adornments, to cotton tops again in this season’s popular trend of prints, the Chick for Nicky Hilton Spring 2008 collection is targeted for women aged 15 – 25.
Although the collection as a whole is quite conservative by design standards, what it lacks it makes up for in having an appeal to general consumers and commercial business alike, leaving one to feel that the collection while highly marketable could have offered so much more.
