Petar Petrov Menswear Spring 2007: Elegant & Stylish Without Trying Too Hard
Paris Menswear Show Spring 2007

PARIS, Jul 3, 2006/ FW/ --- The silhouette was slim line and the colors faded in Petar Petrov’s vision for summer 2007. The collection had a feel that was as scruffy as it was smart which is no mean feat and it put one in mind of a rather well dressed Rastafarian.
The collection opened with a skinny suit and jumper in the lightest shade of green imaginable; a column of open latticework down the front of which revealed the true white of a tuxedo collared shirt. From then on in it was zips around the thigh and knees of pale jeans, CND peace sign motifs on t-shirts and home made style dye patches.
There were many interesting details in the show, notably pleated trousers that even from quite close gave the impression of being corduroy, and zips along the side seams of jeans that opened to expose pockets closed by their own zip fastening.
Elsewhere a solitary button closed the jacket of a black suit that was cropped into an arch at the back and fell forward on each side to form inverted tails.
Mustard stripped polo shirts also featured but there was nothing bourgeois or preppy about it when combined with gypsyesque denim waistcoats. This in fact summed up the collection – elegant without being well groomed and stylish without trying too hard.
