Celebrating Our 10th Year
Richard Chai, Fashion DesignerDALLAS, Mar 24, 2008 / FW/ --- When Richard Chai launched his eponymous line in New York in October 2004, it was the same year that he was voted by People Magazine as one of the Sexiest Men Alive. Though the title did not really highlight that Chai is a very good designer, it did not hurt the emerging designer's status either among the fashionistas. Honing his skills at Donna Karan and Geoffrey Beene in the beginning of his career, Richard Chai caught the eyes of fashion set when he helped launched the Marc by Marc Jacobs line. He then moved to TSE to become its Creative Director and finally during the Spring 2005 New York season, Richard Chai debuted on the New York runways for his own line. Known for his modern almost minimalist designs the feature details like hand stitching, bias tapes and French seams, Richard Chai has also demonstrated that he could create more intricate, detailed pieces that include quilting, cartridge pleats and origami insets. Sophisticated silhouettes with avant-garde roots, Richard Chai is frequently cited as one of the 'new Asian' influences on New York fashion. Wielding that kind of influence in the very competitive world of fashion, it's not surprising that Richard Chai had been chosen by Target to be its 12th GO International Designer. Chai will launch an exclusive collection that will be available at most Target stores nationwide and online at www.target.com/go. The collection of women's fashion will launch in early August 2008 and available throughout the month. |
